Soper Silent Sunday - September 20, 2026

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, Parma Soccer Club will observe Soper Silent Sunday, a special game day designed to give players a greater voice on the field, encourage communication among teammates, and help athletes develop their decision-making skills.

What Is Soper Silent Sunday?

During all matches, coaches of U10 and older teams must refrain from coaching from the sidelines. Coaches may call for substitutions and speak with players on the bench but should not provide instructions to players on the field. Coaches of U8 and U9 teams may continue offering instruction during their matches.

Parents and spectators at every age level, including U8 and U9, should refrain from coaching or calling out to players. Applause and positive encouragement are welcome when play has stopped, such as during substitutions, when the ball goes out of bounds, or after a goal is scored.

The goal of Soper Silent Sunday is to allow players to communicate with one another, make their own decisions, and take greater ownership of the game. We appreciate the cooperation of our coaches, families, and spectators in creating a positive and supportive environment for every player.
